Hello, this is Packative💜
As the year comes to a close, the holiday season filled with sparkling lights and warm sentiments is approaching. In particular, late November is when many brands are busy rolling out ‘holiday edition’ packaging to capture consumers’ attention.
In 2025, the ‘glitter’ trend is extending beyond makeup and fashion into package design, and packaging with eye-catching sparkling designs is becoming the trend. In this article, we’ll cover 2025 holiday packaging design trends, real brand use cases, and production tips.
2025 Holiday Edition Packaging Trends
In 2025, beauty holiday packaging featured many designs that conveyed luxury through subtle shimmer. In particular, designs that used gold-tone glittering effects to express a sophisticated and abundant year-end mood drew attention.
This trend can also be seen as an extension of the glitter trend that has been steadily loved since 2024, as subtly sparkling beauty products such as highlighters and plumping lip products have gained popularity, and similar trends appear to have been reflected in packaging design as well.
Recommended Production Options for Sparkling Holiday Packaging

1. Gold/Silver Foil Finishing
This is the most popular finishing method, while also delivering a luxurious feel.
NONFICTION’s 2025 holiday edition packaging applied gold foil finishing to the logo, stars, and moon accents, creating a soft yet luxurious mood.
2. Special Finishes - Pearl, Glitter, Hologram, and More
If you want a more trendy look, try special finishing.
HERA’s 2025 Holiday Collection packaging expressed urban sophistication by adding fine glitter finishing to a ‘medium brown’ toned paper stock with a shimmering pearl effect. By applying the sparkling finish only around the logo, it emphasized understated luxury.

3. Specialty Paper - Gold Paper, Silver Paper, Holographic Paper, and More
You can create a package with attractive reflected light using specialty paper even without finishing.
DIPTYQUE’s 2025 Advent Calendar used gold specialty paper, inspired by the shelves of a vintage bookstore in Saint-Germain, Paris, to warmly and luxuriously capture the story of a ‘winter night of fragrance and light.’
Real Production Example of Special Finishing: by juccy’s Beauty Seeding Box
In fact, beauty brand by juccy, a long-time Packative customer, has produced many trendy concept packages using a variety of finishing techniques.

The Beauty Seeding Box Vinoberry Winter Duo package used gold and embossing finishes on a restrained design to maximize the holiday atmosphere. Silver foil was applied to the snowflake crystals and logo for a refined metallic effect, and embossing was added to create a dimensional texture.

Another special edition seeding box featured an exterior holographic foil to create a dazzling, attention-grabbing design. Because holographic foil changes color depending on the direction of light, it is a great finishing technique for making packaging feel even brighter.
Be Sure to Check These Points If You Plan to Use Finishing and Specialty Paper!
If you’re planning a premium package that uses sparkling gold foil, hologram effects, or specialty paper, make sure to carefully review the easily overlooked details before production begins.
- Clearly separate and mark the areas where finishing will be applied on a dedicated layer in the design file.
Since gold foil, silver foil, embossing, and other finishes require different processing steps, the finishing areas must be accurately marked in black on a separate layer so the printer can identify them. - Check that the finishing areas are perfectly aligned with the design elements in the file.
For example, if you are applying gold foil to a logo, the logo position in the design file and the foil position must match exactly for the result to look clean. Even a slight misalignment can look awkward, so be sure to check the alignment before production. - When using specialty paper, review sample materials that help you understand how it will look when printed on proof paper.
Gold paper, silver paper, holographic paper, and similar materials may appear differently from what you see on screen, so it’s a good idea to get similar production examples or sample images from Packative in advance. - Make sure the areas receiving finishing are not too thin or too small.
If lines are too fine or text is too small, the finishing may bleed or not be reproduced properly. We recommend setting lines at a minimum of 0.2 mm and text at 6 pt or larger. - Consider how colors may change once finishing is applied.
Glossy coating, gold foil, and other finishes can change the brightness or saturation of existing design elements, so overly extreme combinations are best avoided. For example, if gold foil is applied to very dark text, the foil may be barely visible or appear dull, so if you want to emphasize the gold, it is better to apply it over a light background.
