Hello, this is Packative.
As you develop products and run a brand, there comes a point when you start thinking, 'We need proper packaging now.' But when you actually begin looking for a box manufacturer, questions start piling up: '🗨️How should I choose a box manufacturer?', '🗨️What should I check when selecting one?' If this is your first time producing packaging, it can feel even more difficult.
Rather than simply choosing the cheapest vendor, it is more important to select a partner that aligns with your brand direction.
Here’s <📖7 Essential Checklist Items Before Choosing a Box Manufacturer> that will help you find the right fit for your brand.

Essential Checklist Before Choosing a Box Manufacturer - 1️⃣ Product Handling Experience
Depending on whether your product is cosmetics, food, apparel, or merchandise, the required packaging specifications will differ. Check whether the manufacturer has experience handling products similar to yours by reviewing their production cases.

Essential Checklist Before Choosing a Box Manufacturer - 2️⃣ Minimum Order Quantity (MOQ)
For early-stage brands or brands preparing a test launch, whether small-quantity production is possible is extremely important. Some manufacturers only accept orders in units of 10,000, while others can flexibly produce even under 50 units. Make sure the partner’s MOQ matches your brand’s budget and sales strategy.

Essential Checklist Before Choosing a Box Manufacturer - 3️⃣ Payment and Settlement Terms
Payment terms, such as card payments or post-delivery settlement, can affect cash flow flexibility more than expected. Especially for first-time production runs or collaborations, it’s a good idea to ask whether deferred payment or installment payments are possible in order to reduce risk.

Essential Checklist Before Choosing a Box Manufacturer - 4️⃣ Die Storage
When making boxes, a separate cutting die must be produced to cut the printed paper according to the package structure. Depending on the manufacturer, you should definitely check whether they store the die so it can be reused for repeat orders, and how long the storage period is. If you expect to reorder the same specification within a short period, die storage directly translates to cost savings.

Essential Checklist Before Choosing a Box Manufacturer - 5️⃣ Communication and Responsiveness
Packaging production is not just a simple printing job. It involves many variables, such as post-processing, material supply, and printing conditions. In situations like these, how quickly and flexibly a manufacturer can respond can often be sensed from the very first communication. When requesting a quote, pay attention to response speed and how well feedback is incorporated.

Essential Checklist Before Choosing a Box Manufacturer - 6️⃣ Production Lead Time
If your launch schedule is fixed, the packaging delivery date is a deadline that absolutely must be met. Production time can vary depending on the structure and finishing method, so check the minimum and maximum lead time in advance. If your schedule is tight, also confirm whether rush production is available.

Essential Checklist Before Choosing a Box Manufacturer - 7️⃣ Sample Production Availability
A design that looks good only on a monitor can feel completely different when you actually hold the package in your hand. Receiving a sample before production is a great opportunity to catch unexpected errors in advance and adjust details that may subtly clash with your brand image. Even if it isn’t a final production piece, a structure-check sample can help you spot and fix unexpected issues early.
