Packaging Marketing Trends in 2021 Every Marketer Should Know

As consumer-facing marketing through social media has become more important, product packaging that appears prominently on social platforms has also become a key marketing element. On social media channels such as Instagram and YouTube, unboxing experiences that share first impressions of delivered products are now frequently mentioned.

Before reviewing a product, consumers and influencers often record or photograph themselves opening the delivered package so they can give their followers the freshest first impression possible. They no longer talk only about how the product feels or looks. In step with this trend, packaging has become the way to deliver an advertising effect to subscribers and potential customers.

Packaging acts as advertising

What do you think the point of advertising is? Advertising is meant to introduce a product to the public and showcase its strengths and features in the best possible way. That is exactly what custom packaging does.

Create packaging that communicates what your brand stands for. If you want to convey minimalism and eco-friendly values, you can use kraft paper. If you want to project a premium image, you can use colors such as black and white print to present a design tailored to your target customers' preferences. To stand out more on the shelf next to competitors, you can use bright colors and large fonts.

Make custom packaging that shows the value of your product as effectively as possible to potential customers. Use your brand logo and regularly used colors to create a lasting impression so that your brand or product comes to mind the moment the box is seen. Use everything you can. Don't leave your billboard blank.

Packaging marketing doesn't cost much

Compared with running ads in traditional media, packaging marketing offers more freedom to make changes and is also cheaper to produce. The amount paid to traditional advertising platforms such as online, television, or print media just to display a short ad is beyond imagination. The same goes for the cost of planning and producing those ads. By contrast, changing packaging delivers advertising efficiency while being much faster to implement, and because packaging is already used for shipping and storage, there are no additional costs for distribution!
